EastEnders bosses were left fuming, after actress Gillian Taylforth was announced as a judge for G-A-Y’s Porn Idol competition.

The actress made a shock return to EastEnders earlier this month, bringing her character Kathy Beale back from the dead in an anniversary week twist.

She is set to return to the soap again later this year – but the BBC is reportedly angry after it was announced she would judge the annual Porn Idol competition at Heaven nightclub.

According to Heaven boss Jeremy Joseph, the BBC threatened to take legal actions over posters that stated: “Kathy Beale is not dead, she’s judging G-A-Y Porn Idol.”

He told the Mirror: “We’ve taken Kathy Beale off the ad. The first we heard they had a problem with it was today.

“It was just a joke. It was such a shock when she came back. It was such an amazing secret. We booked her based on that.”

Taylforth’s partner Dave Fairbairn told the newspaper that “nothing had been agreed” about the competition, adding: “It’s naughty using Kathy Beale.

“It’s not Kathy Beale, it’s Gillian Taylforth.”

An EastEnders spokesman said: “[Gillian] isn’t contracted with us so she is free to undertake any personal appearances. She is back later this year, we’re really excited.”

Controversy-monger Katie Hopkins is also signed up to judge Porn Idol.
