My children were ‘brainwashed’ with homophobia, UKIP candidate’s ex-wife tells court

A mother has claimed that her children were being “brainwashed” with racist and homophobic views by her ex-husband – who is a UKIP candidate.

The mother told a family court that the children – who cannot been identified for legal reasons – had been “pumped full” of the party’s political beliefs by their father.

According to the Mail, she accused the children’s father of “abusing their childhood”, after a judge lifted a ban on the candidate taking his children to the party’s rallies.

The mother claimed in court documents that he was “influencing the children” by enlisting them to distribute leaflets and attend events – noting that her older child “can be racist and homophobic”.

She said: “They shouldn’t know what they are talking about because none of them at that age should know anything to do with politics.

“Isn’t that to do with abusing their childhood if they’re being pumped full of whatever political party?”

However, the father claimed the older child was “very keen” on campaigning for the party and “gets a lot out of it”.

After the ban was lifted, he said: “This is a victory. People are fed of up of being told how they are supposed to think.

“Even if my children had picked up racism, which I do not accept they have, they have not picked it up from UKIP.”
