Former weatherman Fred Talbot showed Stone Roses singer Ian Brown what was “probably a gay porn film” when he was 11, a court has heard.

Mr Brown, who was taught biology by Mr Talbot from 1974-1979, also told Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court that a class of boys was also told to go home and masturbate, and in a later class were asked about whether they did.

The court heard from Mr Brown that he remembered “in particular” one incident when he was 11-years-old at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, and that Mr Talbot had a projector set up, and played a video of a man masturbating.

Mr Brown told the court: “A three minute film on a Super 8 projector of a guy walking into a room dressed in denims, sits on bed, takes trousers down and masturbates.

“It was only a few years later I realised it was probably a gay porn film. It wasn’t a sex education film.”

Mr Talbot, 65, of Bowdon, Manchester, is accused of 10 counts of historical indecent assault relating to five boys, not including Mr Brown, in the 1960s to the 1980s.. He denies all charges.

The trial continues.
