A gay chef in Rimini was told by his boss to pay to sleep with a female prostitute or lose his job.

The man was apparently told he needed to “prove” he was straight by sleeping with a woman or risk being fired.

Founder of the Rimini branch of Arcigay, an LGBT rights group, Marco Toni, called on other restraunts in the popular seaside town to offer the man work as a show of support.

He said: “It’s forcing him by taking advantage of the need to work, with threats of dismissal, to act cruelly against a person that only wants to do their work to earn a living.

“Even if someone denies there’s homophobia in Italy, it certainly exists.”
