Gay couple thrown out of Uber cab in London for kissing

A gay couple have said they were kicked out of an Uber taxi in London after they kissed.

Corey Watts and his boyfriend Jordan Sloan said they were asked by the driver to get our of the car after they kissed.

They got into the taxi in the Covent Garden area of London at 8pm on Thursday, and only travelled for a few minutes before being told to get out.

23-year-old Sloan told the Mirror despite Watts being angry, he tried to have a dialogue with him about his reasons for kicking them out.

He said: “I wanted to find out what his problem and just have a conversation with him but he just told us to get out the cab again.

“Corey was quite angry but I just wanted to understand the driver’s reasoning.

“I felt shocked – you don’t expect that sort of homophobic reaction in London.”

The driver has since been suspended, as Uber launches an investigation into the incident.

After the incident, the couple were forced to get another cab,

An Uber spokesman told the Mirror: “Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination either by our partner drivers or towards our partner drivers,” he said.

“We opened an investigation from the moment we learned of this unacceptable incident and have been in contact with the rider to extend our sincere apologies and get further information.

“The driver concerned has been suspended from the Uber platform.”
