8 times people stripped off in 2014 to raise money for good causes

To the PinkNews team, sometimes it seemed that 2014 was the year of the naked calendar.

Sometimes controversial, and usually in calendars, (often by sports teams), naked people often raised funds for good causes such as anti-bullying initiatives.

Here PinkNews brings you just a few times this year sports teams (and others) have stripped off. Don’t forget – many of the calendars are still available for 2015…

The Warwick Rowers

The Warwick Rowers have stripped off again for the sixth edition of their world-famous naked calendar with the support of Sir Ian McKellen.

The Education Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities Nicky Morgan attended the PinkNews Awards on 29 October, and presented the Community Group of the Year award to the rowers, who often pose naked to raise funds for good causes.

French rugby stars strip off for 15th Dieux du Stade calendar

The cover of the 2015 calendar, which features nude or semi-nude mainly rugby stars, as well as other athletes, features Rugby Union scrum half Parra.

The 2015 calendar was available from 2 October. Proceeds will go to breast cancer charity Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-En.

Disney Princes for World AIDS Day

An artist has imagined a number of famous Disney Princes stripping off to promote safe sex for World AIDS Day tomorrow. Yes, really.

Naked gay Orthodox priests strip off… again

The Orthodox Priests calendar returned this year, with men who may or may not be Orthodox priests posing in compromising positions.

The 2015 calendar, which features Romanian Orthodox Christians, has been unveiled, and is available to order.

This year’s edition will be the third time the calendar has been produced, and organisers claim it is “still the only organized global effort against homophobia in the Orthodox region.”

Red Hot Calendar

Images from the newest RED HOT calendar were released this autumn. It aims to dispel the “desexualisation” of gingers.

A portion of proceeds are donated to good causes. and the calendar aims to inspire ginger men to be proud of their red hair.

London men strip off for calendar in aid of LGBT forum

New to the roster of nude calendars was ‘Brief Moments’, This one aims to raise money for an LGBT forum in the London Borough of Sutton.

The calendar was created to raise money for the Sutton LGBT Forum, which aims to help vulnerable LGBT people in the London borough.

The Yorkshire Terriers

Meet the Yorkshire Terriers, a gay football team to become the latest to strip off in a bid to raise funds for charity.

Players of the Terriers have launched their 2015 calendar in a bid to raise funds for the community team to play on and a portion to go towards tackling prostate cancer.

University of Nottingham Hockey Team

Not a calendar this time, the University of Nottingham men’s hockey team stripped off in a video, which was produced by one of the University of Nottingham’s Students’ Union student-led projects Voice Your Rights.

Voice Your Rights is a voluntary project concerned with human rights, and features the University of Nottingham’s male hockey team naked.
