UKIP’s new policy is weird, even for them
A branch of the UK Independence Party has accidentally come out against the UK.
UKIP Rotherham made the blunder in a Christmas advert published in the Rotherham Record.
The Christmas message reads: “Say no to the UK!
“Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at the UKIP Rotherham team.”
The group’s ad also lists a bizarre phone number including letters, ‘0800 58t 6 587’.
If the error had been intentional, it wouldn’t be the first time UKIP members have opposed the UK – former UKIP Oxford Chair Julia Gasper is now a member of the English Democrats, which supports the dissolution of the United Kingdom.
Paul Rimmer, a former UKIP candidate, claimed this week that Liverpool FC is cursed by God because the club attended this year’s Liverpool Pride.

He said on Facebook: “From the Bible, Sodomy defiles a Nation. Those who promote it will be punished & vomited out of the Land. In 2012 Liverpool FC sponsored the City’s Gay Pride Parade. Unless they repent they will be under a continual curse.”
UKIP candidate Kerry Smith stepped down this week, after the Mail on Sunday reported leaked phone calls in which he referred to gay people as “poofters” and joked about the party’s LGBT membership group.
Defending his claims on LBC yesterday, he ranted: “Working class people have gotta do the Eliza Doolittle treatment if they want to run for a political party at Westminster.
“We’re trying to make the House of commons look like this country and if you’re working class you’ve got leprosy.
“You’ve gotta put a plumb in your mouth become something you are not – and I’ll tell you something. If it’s a case of me ditching my roots to go to Westminster – I will always be who I am, and I’m a cockney.”
