Prince Harry has visited children and young people affected by HIV in Lesotho.

The prince went to see the work being carried out by Sentebale, the charity he founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. It is a country with one of the highest rates of HIV in the world, with around 40,000 adolescents living with HIV. Around 1 in 3 children are orphans, often due to HIV and AIDS.

He was photographed helping to build the Mamohato Chidren’s Centre, which will help provide support for children and young people HIV and other illnesses and disabilities.

He said: “These are children who have never had the chance to talk about their illness, and who had no idea that they were one of so many in their age group.

“It was really emotional watching them interact with each other. Some really outgoing chatty kids, others slightly overwhelmed, but all with huge smiles.

“This confirmed to me again that what we’re doing is going to change thousands of children’s lives, and hopefully save a generation.”

Prince Harry revealed a secret about himself for this year’s World AIDS Day.
