US: Kansas issues gender-neutral marriage forms
The US state of Kansas has begun issuing gender-neutral marriage forms amid a battle around same-sex marriage.
Last month the US Supreme Court stopped Kansas from enforcing its ban on same-sex marriage, pending a lawsuit in federal court.
Since then, some of the 105 counties in the state have been issuing marriage licences to same-sex couples, but not all.
A motion was filed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Wednesday, which included copies of the new forms.
Now they include the headings “Party A” and “Party B”, and can choose how they will be referred to, such as bride, groom or spouse.
