Nick Griffin: I’m voting for UKIP

Former British National Party leader Nick Griffin, who thinks that gays are “really creepy”, has said he will vote for UKIP.

The far-right politician was made to step down in May, after the party was completely wiped out during the European Elections. He was later expelled from the party entirely.

The 54-year-old previously described gay people as “creepy” and admitted that he would like to ban civil partnerships.

He tweeted today to endorse Nigel Farage’s United Kingdom Independence Party – who he says he will vote for at the next election.

He said: “I will hold nose & vote Ukip because it will help break up the Westminster system. & hold Cameron’s feet to referendum fire.

“Vote #UKIP to kick Cameron…but don’t be fooled by Toryboy Nigel.”

UKIP spokespeople often point out that UKIP is the only political party which bans former BNP members from joining – but this clearly did not dissuade Mr Griffin from backing them.

Yesterday, Nigel Farage denied that the party was homophobic, citing gay MEP David Coburn.

He said: “I’m delighted to say that LGBTQ in UKIP is growing, and thriving, and has over 1,200 Facebook followers.

“How many other parties have an MEP who describes himself as ‘spectacularly homosexual’ and a ‘great big screaming poof’. David Coburn MEP’s words – not mine!”

Mr Farage previously claimed that “most” over-70s feel uncomfortable about homosexuality, while defending homophobic remarks made by UKIP candidate Roger Helmer.
