Gay dating app Recon has launched its yearly campaign aiming to raise funds for global AIDS Charities for World AIDS Day.

The app has already donated £2,500 and invites users to donate what they can.

Donations will be given to the Mercury Phoenix Trust (MPT), which raises awareness and funding for HIV and AIDS Charities across the globe, ahead of World AIDS Day which takes place annually on 1 December.

Anyone using the app who donates to MPT using Recon will be awarded a virtual red ribbon, which will appear on their profile until 31 December.

Last year Recon users donated over £16,000, and this year’s goal has been set at £20,000. Over the past eight years, the total donations to worldwide AIDS charities is £151,000.

A Recon spokesman told PinkNews: “No amount is too small and every contribution helps this important cause.”
