Drama school the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama has been awarded almost £100,000 towards a project it runs tackling LGBT issues.

The school received £94,800 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme, reports the Stage.

The money will be used to expand a programme started in January, which helps LGBT people share thoughts and opinions through performances and discussion.

An archive of the project will be kept. Originally just aimed at 18-25-year-olds, the project will now be open to older people too.

Eight workshops across the UK will be held each year as another part of the project. The school says it will allow people the opportunity to learn about LGBT history.
