Irish singer Sinead O’Connor has revealed that she is now looking to date women – because it “ain’t really working out” with men.

The outspoken ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer – who has been married four times – has given several different accounts of her sexuality in the past.

She came out in 2000, saying “I actually am a dyke”, before commenting a year later “It was overcompensating of me to declare myself a lesbian”.

Years later, she said “I’m three-quarters heterosexual, a quarter gay. I lean a bit more towards the hairy blokes” – but later said it’s “not accurate” to call her bisexual.

The singer – who has struggled with mental health problems in the past, and had a public spat with singer Miley Cyrus last year – wrote on her blog this week: “Having no joy anyway in the dating department. Dating site has thrown up f**k all.

“I’m not exactly a great prospect once they’ve googled me.
