Neil Patrick Harris: ‘Burt Reynolds’ kiss’ made me realise I’m gay

Neil Patrick Harris has revealed how kissing Burt Reynolds on the mouth made him realise he was gay.
The How I Met Your Mother star tied the knot this month to his partner of over a decade – with whom he has twins – in an intimate ceremony in Italy.
In his new autobiography – entitled “Choose Your Own Autobiography” – the 41-year-old opened up about his childhood sexuality, and when he first suspected he might be gay.
He said he initially chose to label himself as bisexual even though “it’s the cute new boy in your class or on set who really gets under your skin and thrills you and spurs your imagination.”
He said it seemed like a “half-truth, but the only truth.”
But after appearing alongside Burt Reynolds on B.K. Stryker, he said, the something changed his mind completely.
“As a joke at the end of one take, Burt leans over and kisses you square on the mouth,” he wrote.
“The crew thinks this is very funny, but it makes you uncomfortable. Uncomfortable and, it will ultimately turn out, gay. Burt Reynolds’ kiss makes you gay.”
He added after a “long internal journey” he realised “you are gay.”
“You know that you are; you like that you are; you’re proud that you are. You are totally gay. and now you are totally gay and totally in love, and it’s wonderful’.
He said: “In high school all my friends were sleeping with girls, and it just seemed like that’s what one did.”
