This Friday the Civil Service will hold their eighth annual event celebrating the achievements of civil servants who have delivered results in equality and diversity.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday. The shortlist of nominees can be viewed here.

The event will be co-hosted by BBC News Presenter Sian Williams and Sir Simon Fraser, Head of the Diplomatic Service, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Civil Service Diversity Champion.

The Civil Service is one of the UK’s largest employers. In 2008 it launched a new strategy designed to “embed diversity” across all levels of the Civil Service.

In September, the Government announced a new ‘Talent Action Plan’ which aims to remove barriers to LGBT people reaching high ranks of the Civil Service.
