A German advisory board has claimed that incest between consenting siblings should be legal.

The German Ethics Council, a non-governmental independent body made up of scientists and legal experts, called for the country to revise its law which bans sex between siblings.

The Council’s report stated: “The right of adult siblings to sexual self-determination in a consensual relationship weighs heavier in these cases than the abstract good of the family.

“Neither the consequences for the family nor the possibility for descendants from such incestuous relationships can justify a ban under criminal law.”

Czech identical twins Elijah and Milo Peters famously starred in several porn films together – and claimed to be in love.

One of the twins said previously: “My brother is my boyfriend, and I am his boyfriend. He is my lifeblood, and he is my only love.”

However, according to some reports the pair have since broken up, and are seeing other people.

Psychotherapist Dr. Michael Wunder, who is a member of the council, told NBC: “The majority of the German Ethics Council believes that it is not appropriate for a criminal law to preserve a social taboo.

However, he added: “The ethics council does not recommend decriminalizing sex between parents and children.”

Despite the recommendation from the panel, the German government has rejected calls to amend incest laws.

MP Elisabeth Winkelmeier-Becker wrote: “Abolition of the offense of incest between siblings would send the wrong signal.

“The elimination of the threat of punishment against incestuous acts within families is contrary to the development of children in families.”

Same-sex marriage is illegal in Germany, with Angela Merkel’s ruling CDC coalition rebuffing calls to introduce further rights for gay couples.
