A fashion designer celebrated marriage equality during New York Fashion Week, with a runway show themed around same-sex marriage.

Betsey Johnson dedicated her fashion week runway show – titled ‘Prenup’ – to the “celebration of freedom in marriage”.

The show featured several prominent drag performers – including Willam Belli of RuPaul’s Drag Race – as well as same-sex couples and transgender models.
Ms Johnson, 72, said: “Pre Nup is a part of the whole world of straight brides, gay brides, transgender marriages, everybody getting married. Finally, freedom.

“Trendy and transgendy. It’s a riot. It’s been the most fun to work on this show.”

Of the show’s content, she said: “Alot of more new, more abstract ideas. See-through plastic dresses and dresses made out of scuba fabric and horse hair.”
