FA Cup winners Arsenal have made a video to back Stonewall’s rainbow laces campaign.

The team feature in a new advert for the campaign, released to coincide with the LGB rights group’s push to combat homophobia in football.

Rainbow coloured boot laces have been dispatched to every single professional player in the UK, including youth and women’s teams, alongside deliveries to all 650 MPs and leading political figures.

In the ad, Arsenal stars Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain mock their own appearance.

21 year old winger Oxlade-Chamberlain jokes: “I can’t change that I look like a Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtle”.

A shirtless Oliver Giroud adds that he “can’t help” being gorgeous, before winking at the camera.

The campaign, launched by Stonewall, Paddy Power and and the Gay Football Supporters’ Network, is also backed by the Premier League, out German footballer Thomas Hitzlsperger, Arsenal and Man City.

Women and Equalities Minister Nicky Morgan told PinkNews today: “As our national game, football should be welcoming to all.

“Stonewall’s rainbow laces campaign is a simple and fun way to help change the game. I urge clubs and fans to show their support by lacing up next weekend.”

The rainbow laces campaign will be advertised on Pink News next week.
