It appears that not all misconceptions of gay life have been dispelled as openly gay rapper Cakes da Killa appeared on the Hot 97 Morning Show, and was asked not about his music but whether it was “the penis directly that turned him on.”

The interview was moving along as most interviews tend to do. The hosts applauded Cakes for his honesty in a business that is still reluctant to gay rappers. Then there was a sudden shift into gender performance, which led to a discussion regarding Cakes’ sexuality.

One of the hosts said: “While we’re being sort of ignorant for the purpose of learning,” before going on to ask if Cakes and the show’s lesbian assistant would hit it off, because they were both gay.

Cakes maintained his composure throughout, and came through more likeable than he was before.
