A woman from Oakham in Rutland has said she is living in fear after she was subjected to a homophobic attack.

Kerry Byrnes, 23, said she was walking home after a night out, when she could hear two men behind her.

After hearing one of the men make a homophobic comment, Ms Byrnes says she was hit in the face, and after that she can’t remember much.

Police are appealing for witnesses in the assault.

The men are described as white, in their 20s and about 5’7″ tall.

Despite having strong support from her friends and family since the attack, Byrnes says she has been scared to go out.
