US: Basketball star Brittney Griner proposes to girlfriend
Basketball star Brittney Griner and girlfriend Glory Johnson recently became engaged to be married.
The couple was celebrating their two-month anniversary last Thursday when Griner popped the question.
Griner posted this photo of the proposal to Instagram with the caption: “Last Night was a Night to Remember I became the happiest person on this earth! (almost pass out but when that one word came out I came back to life) Me and my baby @missvol25 are in it for Life!”
Griner, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury, is the first basketball player to ever propose to someone on a rival team.
Johnson is also a WNBA player, playing on the Tulsa Shock.
Johnson posted this photo of Griner and the engagement ring on Instagram with the caption: “What I get to wake up to @brittneygriner #LoveMakesYouDoTheCraziestThings.”
Griner came out as gay early into her WNBA career in April 2013.
