A national campaign is being launched this weekend by an LGBT forum in Northampton, in an attempt to sign up straight “allies” who believe in equality.

Members of the Northampton LGBTQ People’s Forum will attend Northampton’s Umbrella Fair this weekend to promote the Straight Allies campaign.

The forum, run by Northampton Borough Council, will be at the fair, at Northampton Racecourse, reports the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.

The group will give away pin badges, and allow people to sign their name and messages which will be made into bunting to be used at other events.

Poets and local musicians will perform at the weekend’s events, and will be filmed, and turned into an online film.

The Umbrella Fair takes place over the weekend, includes music, theatre and dance performances, as well as arts and crafts, alternative therapists, and games for young people.
