Recently out singer Sam Smith is in talks to produce the next James Bond theme song.

The Sun reported claims that Smith is in talks with producers of the wildly popular spy films at MGM, and that he may sing the theme tune.

The next Bond film is set to be released on 23 October 2015 in the UK.

According to the story, Adele refused to sing again for Bond, and quoted an MGM spokesman as having said: “Sam is our top choice.”

The claims have not been confirmed by Smith’s management.

Daniel Craig will return to the big screen as Bond for next year’s film. Sam Mendes will direct again alongside screenwriters John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Ben Whishaw, who plays Q in the films, recently said that he was scared of coming out for a long time.

Smith, who revealed last month that his album was written about a man he had fallen in love with, told the Jim & Kate Morning Show that people need to “act” equal if they want equal rights.

He said: “I would say just be yourself. Don’t make it an issue. Let’s make it a normality.

The singer had first ignited rumours in May, when the music video for his track ‘Leave Your Lover’ showed him at the centre of a gay love triangle.
