US: ‘Big Bang’ salary deal for gay actor Jim Parsons and cast

Stars of “The Big Bang Theory” have secured a three-year deal with Warner Brothers Television, tripling their current $350,000 (£207,494) salary per episode.

The stars involved in the deal are Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, and openly gay actor Jim Parsons.

After months of negotiations, the CBS stars will be raking in $1 million (£593,109) per episode for 72 episodes in the upcoming seasons 8-10.

“The Big Bang Theory”, TV’s No. 1 comedy, has been nominated for best comedy series in past years, but the show has yet to take home that trophy. This year, the series has again been nominated for an Emmy.

Jim Parsons is a three-time Emmy winner and has been nominated seven times for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his starring role as Sheldon Cooper.

Parsons has also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy.

The actor went public about his sexuality and his ten-year relationship with rumored boyfriend Todd Spiewak in May 2012.

Parsons thanked Todd Spiewalk during his 2013 Emmy award acceptance speech calling him his: “favourite person on the planet.”

Actress Sara Gilbert, whose contract was not renewed, has credited her former co-star Johnny Galecki with helping her come out as gay.
