An anonymous gift of $1 million dollars (£580,000) was given to Michigan State University’s LGBT Resource Center.

The school announced the donation Tuesday, saying the gift comes from the estates of a Michigan State alumnus and his partner.

The gift will help expand the center’s services and programing through a fund that will directly serve LGBT students on the university’s campus.

Michigan State said in a release that the center “leads and collaborates on university-wide initiatives that prepare all students to succeed through educational programs on sexuality and gender identity.”

Director of the LBGT Resource Center Deanna Hurlbert said in the release: “It is gifts of this nature that will allow MSU to keep up with the increasingly complex needs of our students and to honor our institutional commitment to providing a world-class learning environment.”
