First out Tory MP Alan Duncan steps down as International Development Minister
Alan Duncan has stepped down from the post of International Development Minister, during this evening’s Government reshuffle.
According to reports, Mr Duncan stepped down “at his own request”. He was appointed International Development Minister in 2010.
The gay Conservative MP said that the UK was “increasingly vociferous” in campaigning against homophobia on the global stage, particularly in Africa.
He was the first gay Tory MP to come out voluntarily and was also the first MP to have a civil partnership.
