Actor James Corden has won £16,000 for Terrence Higgins Trust, appearing on Celebrity Deal or No Deal.

The Gavin and Stacey star appeared on the show last week to raise funds for the HIV charity and Save the Children.

After eliminating all the other boxes, he was left with boxes containing £5 and £50,000.

He dealt at £16,000, before discovering his box had contained just £5.

He made a gamble to double his winnings through box 23 – which could have seen him lose everything – but his winnings were instead doubled to £32,000, which he split between the two charities.

A statement from THT said: “We’re over the moon. James Corden raised £16,000 for us on Deal or No Deal. Thank you James!”

One Direction also made a surprise appearance on the show, wishing him luck.
