Man charged in London homophobic bleach attack
A man has been charged in a homophobic attack on three London clubbers in which they were sprayed in the face with bleach.
The attacks took place outside Lightbox club in South Lambeth Place at around 4am on Sunday 8 June.
In the first incident, a substance, thought to be a concentrated ammonia solution, was sprayed at two men following a verbal exchange between them and a group outside the venue.
A short time later, police were made aware of a third man who had also been sprayed in the face with a substance in the vicinity of the club.
Police said all three men were treated at hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.
Jonathan William Lynn, 31 was charged on Friday with Section 18 wounding with intent, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a weapon for discharge of a noxious liquid / gas.
He appears in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court today.
Yesterday, Chief Superintendent Richard Wood, Lambeth Borough Commander, issued a statement of reassurance to the capital’s LGBT community.
