Washington DC Pride will feature US military color guard for the first time
For the first time in its history, this year the pride parade in Washington DC will feature the US military color guard.
According to the Washington Post, an eight-member team of the color guard from the US Army Military District of Washington, will lead off the parade on Saturday.
The Department of Defense was behind authorising the participation of the guard.
The decision has been hailed as a first for the US, as the guard are intended to represent the American flag, and the flag of each military branch.
Requests to have the color guard present at past pride events have all been rejected.
