A far-right student club has been banned by the University College London Union, after allegations it is “fascist” and “homophobic”.

The group was originally known as Tradition UCL, but had changed its name to Nietzsche Club in honour of the German philosopher.

According to the Tab, they had put up several posters on campus calling to unite those “critical of modernity”, and claiming that “equality is a false God”.

UCLU’s Union Council last month passed a motion to ban the group, put forward by student Samuel Bayliss.

The motion reads: “[The club is] on the extreme-right, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, homophobic, anti-Marxist, anti-worker and have had connections, direct or indirect, with Italian fascism and German Nazism.

“This group may have connections to the wider fascist movement and other organised groups, specifically those groups using the name Radical Traditionalism to describe their ideology, such as the Traditionalist Youth Network, and the Traditional Britain Group.”

“Fascism is directly threatening to the safety of the UCL student body and UCLU members.”

It resolves: “Fascism has no place at UCL or UCLU, and that any attempts by fascists or the far-right to organise on campus must be met with unconditional resistance.”

The group has been banned from affiliating with UCLU, and is no longer allowed to meet or promote itself on campus.
