UK: Sam Smith hints at sexuality in new music video

Nick Duffy May 25, 2014

Singer-songwriter Sam Smith has addressed rumours about his sexuality in a new music video.

In the clip for new song ‘Leave Your Lover’, Smith is shown in a love triangle with both a female and male friend.

As the three dance and flirt with eachother, he sings: “Oh, I’m in love with you, and you will never know (…) Leave your lover, leave him for me.”

The video is deliberately ambiguous as to who Sam is referring, but at the end he wanders the empty streets, before catching his male friend sharing an intimate moment with a boyfriend.

Smith has not previously addressed rumours about his sexuality, sparked by his tendency to talk about gender-neutral lovers.

The singer recently found success with track Money on My Mind, reaching number one on the Singles Chart.

Last week, Amazing- Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield starred a trans woman in a video for band Arcade Fire.
