US: Police identify suspect in ‘Grindr rape and robbery’ case

Nick Duffy April 12, 2014

Police have released a photo of a man suspected of holding at gunpoint, sexually assaulting and robbing a man he met on Grindr.

Philadelphia Police are appealing for help to find 26-year-old Douglas Spady (AKA Douglas Casey), of Cottage Street, Philadelphia, who the victim unwittingly invited to his hotel room.

Yesterday, the victim of the attack said he was ‘terrified’ after allegedly being held at gunpoint, sexually assaulted, and robbed of more than $3000 (£1790).

The victim, a tourist from Canada in town for an education conference, said the attack left him terrified.

He said: “The whole thing was just a giant blur. I was scared and I kept thinking if I just do what he says, then he’ll just go away.

“I will no longer be doing any type of app like that again. I’m just not.”

Police have appealed for help in finding Spady, who is 5′ 11″, with wavy hair and star tattoos on the back of his right hand.

Anyone with information should contact the Philadelphia Police tips line, on 215 686 TIPS.
