An Ohio US Representative has called for the impeachment of a federal judge who has voiced his intention to strike-down the state’s same-sex marriage ban.

Representative John Becker, has called for the impeachment of Judge Timothy Black, and is the sole sponsor of a House resolution to do just that.

Judge Black last week announced that he plans to issue a ruling to strike down the state of Ohio’s same-sex marriage ban.

Black already in December issued a limited ruling which ordered the state to recognise same-sex marriages for death certificate purposes.

Becker in a statement on Monday that Black had shown “an epic display of arrogance and incompetence,” through wrongly ruling that the state should recognise “homosexual marriage”.

The resolution to have Black impeached has been pending in the House since November.
