Hollywood star Julianne Moore has commended fellow actress Ellen Page for her decision to come out as gay, earlier this month.

Page, who came to public attention with her Oscar nominated role in the film Juno came out, speaking at a conference for LGBT teenagers in Las Vegas earlier in February.

She was attending an event organised by the Human Rights Campaign, and said: “I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission.”

Julianne Moore, who is set to play Page’s lover in an upcoming film, spoke to E! News to say the speech “was really wonderful. I was very happy for her…. I’m excited about [Freeheld]. It’s great.”

Earlier this month it was confirmed that Julianne Moore and Zach Galifianakis had joined the cast of Ellen Page’s upcoming gay rights drama, Freeheld.
