Parent group Families Through Surrogacy will be hosting a major conference in the UK on international surrogacy conference this March, to better inform and empower intended parents and surrogates entering complex arrangements. The two day programme is aimed at parents from the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Italy & Spain, supported by legal experts and clinics. Surrogacy in the UK, US, India, Eastern Europe as well as emerging destinations such as Canada and Thailand will all be discussed.

Families through Surrogacy (FTS) is working on a set of best practice principles for a rapidly growing and poorly regulated international industry. These aim to increase agency transparency and accountability, as well as protecting parents, children and surrogate mothers.

“These principles are based on our own experiences as parents,” said FTS director & gay dad Sam Everingham, whose two daughters were born via surrogacy in New Delhi in 2011.
