A new campaign aimed at tackling sexual exploitation in the LGBT community is being launched in Brighton next month.

The WiSE Project, organised by Sussex Central YMCA, will feature LGBT specific posters and information in bars, clubs, restaurants and cruising grounds throughout Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings.

Young people are designing interactive beermats around healthy relationships, staying safe on a night out and what to do if something goes wrong for use in the campaign.

The project will officially launch at the Komedia in Brighton on 28 March.

It’s in collaboration with the Allsorts Youth Project, Sussex Police and Terrence Higgins Trust.

Research published this month by Stonewall showed gay and bisexual teenagers are significantly more likely to send and receive sexually explicit material on phones and the internet compared to their heterosexual peers.

The National Crime Agency last week updated their internet safety guidance to include specialised advice for LGBT teenagers.
