US televangelist Pat Robertson instructs mother to ask her gay son whether a coach ‘molested’ him
Pat Robertson, the US televangelist named Stonewall’s 2013 Bigot of the Year, recently explained to the mother a gay child that she should ask whether he was “molested” by a coach.
Ring Wing Watch reports that during an episode of Robertson’s 700 Club, he received a letter from a worried parent who asked him for advice on how to talk to her gay son.
Robertson responded she should “pray for him,” urging that it is probably the cause of her son being molested at an early age.
He said: “Is there a biological thing going on or has he been influenced — has a coach molested him?”
On the topic of gay youth, he added: “They don’t know what they’re doing, they’re teenagers.”
Previously Robertson admitted in an interview that he didn’t understand what the word transgender means, compared trans people to his castrated horse, and called LGBT “insane”, compared to “normal”, straight people.
Robertson beat four nominees for Stonewall’s 2013 Bigot of the Year, including historian Professor Neil Ferguson; Reverend George Gabauer, leading ex-gay activist Scott Lively, and UKIP Parliamentary candidate Winston McKenzie.
