Anthony James July 19, 2013

French media are reporting that the first same-sex marriage has taken place in a prison following France introducing marriage equality.

Alfredo Stranieri, known as the ‘small ads killer’, because he killed people he met through classified advertisements, married Germain Gaiffe, who beheaded a man, inside a high security prison on the outskirts of Paris.

Gaiffe was reported to have worn a white wedding dress, but was forced by officials to redress as a man.

The couple asked Carlos the Jackal (real name Ilich Ramírez Sánchez) to be a witness. The Venezuelan born terrorist who was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and is currently serving a sentence in a French prison for the murder of an informant for the French government and two French counter-intelligence agents. While in prison, he was convicted of an attack that left 11 dead and 150 injured.another at11 and injured 150 people

Another guest was Dieudonne M’bala, a French comedian who has been convicted eight times of anti-semitism by French courts.

Following months of sometimes violent protests, and a substantial rise in homophobic attacks, French President Hollande signed the law making France the fourteenth country in the world to allow equal marriage, back in May.
