A man accused of raping a trans woman more than 10 years ago in north London will face a second trial after the jury in his first trial were unable to reach a verdict.

On Friday, jurors at the Old Bailey were discharged after failing to come to a verdict in the trial of Mohamad Salim, 43, who was accused of raping charity worker Anna Vincent, then 36, in a Camden Town alleyway on 23 January 2001.

Salim, of Aldenham Street, Somers Town, Camden, London, was not linked to the crime until a cold case review in 2011 when semen discovered in the alleyway was found to be a one-in-a-billion match with his DNA.

Anna Vincent, who had undergone gender confirmation surgery four years prior to the attack, died in 2006.

Salim will face a new trial at the Old Bailey, starting on 8 July.
