A counselling service in London has been honoured with an award for its inclusive practice and work with LGBT couples.

The eQuality Award was given to the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships (TCCR), by LGBT charity PACE, which promotes LGBT health and wellbeing.

The award is given as a quality mark of mainstream counselling services which show an inclusive practice, and which have show high standards of care for LGBT clients.

The TCCR was presented with the Silver Award at a ceremony held at the House of Commons at the end of April.

TCCR CEO Susanna Abse, spoke at the event, saying: “We are delighted to have received this award and have been working closely with PACE to ensure that we offer quality therapy services tailored to the needs of all people, including LGBT people. PACE has provided us with a great deal of support and we are grateful for their suggestions and the thoughtful way in which they have worked with us. ”

The criteria met by TCCR to win the award was noted by PACE, including policies which show its commitment to the eQuality agenda at all levels.

This was reflected in a high level of referrals from same-sex couples to the organisation in the past year.
