A sixth man has been arrested over a video posted online showing a man being subjected to homophobic abuse by self-styled “Muslim vigilantes”.

The 20-year-old was taken into custody at his home in east London on Tuesday and has now been bailed, the Metropolitan Police revealed on Friday.

Video surfaced of a group shouting anti-gay abuse at a man in east London, last month, with the group calling itself a “Muslim Patrol”.

The victim subsequently contacted the Met after a public appeal.

Police say they do not know where the video was shot or when, but the gang responsible is thought to be from the Whitechapel area of east London.

Five other men have been arrested as part of the investigation on suspicion of GBH and public order offences – all are now on police bail.
