The Jury in the trial of a man in Ireland accused of raping a woman, having previously told her he was gay, will continue their deliberations today.

The 46-year-old man pleaded not guilty at Westmeath country’s Central Criminal Court. The charges were of rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and making threats to kill at his home in Westmeath, Ireland, on January 8, 2010, reported the Herald.

The man was alleged to have convinced the woman to come back to his apartment by saying there was a party there.

On Wednesday, the final day of evidence, the jury were shown CCTV footage of the accused and the woman leaving the nightclub together.

The court also heard from several witnesses who said they were out with the alleged victim on the night but before she went to the nightclub.

Evidence has now concluded and the jury have begun hearing closing speeches from prosecution and defence counsel and will begin their deliberations on Thursday.
