If you thought it was just far-right Christian pastors that are keen to blame Hurricane Sandy on America’s growing support for equal marriage, well think again.

Hot on the heels of Christian pastor John McTernan, who had argued the storm was a sign of God’s wrath against President Obama’s support for equal marriage, Rabbi Noson Leiter of Torah Jews for Decency has called the hurricane “divine justice” for New York’s same-sex marriage legislation.

According to the website, Right Wing Watch, in a further swipe at the state, Rabbi Leither has singled out New York City’s lower Manhattan as “one of the national centres of homosexuality”.

Rabbi Leither also said the appearance of a double rainbow over NYC in the storm’s aftermath gave further proof to his biblical argument.
