Jessie J: Music executives were “initially uncomfortable” with bisexuality

PinkNews Staff Writer November 10, 2011

The rising star said music executives had felt “uncomfortable” when they found out she was bisexual.

She told Cosmopolitan magazine: “They’re uncomfortable with it. When I was with my girlfriend last year and used to go to studio sessions, I remember going, ‘This is my girlfriend,’ and some people were initially uncomfortable with it.

“But after a while they weren’t because I wasn’t.

“I’ve never used it as a gimmick. I’ve always said I’ve dated guys and I’ve dated girls… If I’m in love, I’m in love. I’m not going to hide it.

“I don’t have a type. For me it’s about someone being comfortable in their own skin. I like people with ambition – and good teeth! Someone with a sense of humour who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.”

Jessie J was shortlisted for Entertainer of the Year at this year’s Stonewall Awards.
