A 17-year-old Lincolnshire boy has been accused of murdering a 67-year-old man after arranging to have sex with him.

Lincoln crown court heard that the teenager, who cannot be identified due his age, met David Cowley at Sleaford Rail Station in November last year and was driven by the older man to a remote spot at Ballast Pits off Mareham Lane.

BBC News reports that the teenager is said to have dragged Mr Cowley from his car before kicking and punching him. The older man was then suffocated and left face down in water.

Prosecutor Amjad Malik QC told the jury that Mr Cowley was openly gay and had promised the teenager cash and mobile phone top-ups in exchange for sex.

Mr Malik said the teenager was not gay and had no intention of having sex with the older man. Instead, the prosecutor said, the defendant planned to rob Mr Cowley and kill or seriously injure him.

The defendant allegedly stole Mr Cowley’s car and abandoned it after crashing it into a wall. He is said to have attempted to sell the older man’s rings at a pawnbrokers.

He denies murdering the pensioner between November 15th and 18th last year but admits manslaughter.

Another 17-year-old denies perverting the course of justice but admits handling stolen goods.

The trial continues.
