Man evicted after threatening to petrol bomb gay couple returns to same street
A Manchester man who was evicted after threatening to firebomb a local gay couple has returned to the same street.
James Saunders, 36, and his partner Diane Halliwell, 42, were kicked out of their rented home on Windsor Road, Harpurhey, in November after the incident.
Mr Saunders then moved in with a private tenant in another house on the same street and faces being evicted again.
It cost Adactus Housing Association £10,000 in legal fees to remove the couple from the first property, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The gay couple, who lived nearby, said they feared Mr Saunders would attack them and claimed he had bombarded them with homophobic taunts.
They gave evidence against him at an eviction hearing and said they were told their legs would be broken if they made further complaints.
Fifty complaints were made to the housing association against Mr Saunders between January 2009 and March 2010.
They included threats of violence, loud music and arguing in the street.
The housing association hopes to have Mr Saunders evicted within three months. He did not comment to the newspaper.
