A 27-year-old Saudi man has been punished with 500 lashes and five years in prison after appearing in a gay video.

The short film was allegedly made inside a prison, although the Prison Administration denies this.

The man was reportedly shown in the video imitating a woman and talking explicitly about sex.

He was arrested by the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and was found guilty of homosexuality, imitating women and possessing pornographic clips.

He was also fined SR50,000 (£8,300).

Saudi Arabia has strict laws against homosexuality.
