Former Mr Gay UK accused of rape has trial date set

A policeman and former winner of the Mr Gay UK contest will go on trial for rape in December.

Mark Carter, a 27-year-old police officer from Huddersfield, has been charged with two offences of sexual assault on males, one attempted sexual assault, one count of male rape and one count of attempted male rape.

The alleged offences relate to four different victims and are said to have taken placed between December 18th and 19th 2009 at the Etap hotel in Leeds city centre.

Mr Carter is currently on bail and will appear before Leeds crown court on December 13th for trial.

He will submit a plea at the court on September 7th.

He is also accused of possessing Class C drugs, which are thought to be bodybuilding steroids.

Mr Carter, who has been suspended from his job, was named Mr Gay UK 2006 and came runner-up in the European contest in 2007.

He came out in 2005 and has served with Huddersfield Police for four years.
