A play exploring Justin Fashanu’s last year is to be shown in London next month.

The Norwich City player remains the only top-level footballer to have ever come out as gay.

The play, produced by Lotus Productions, follows Fashanu’s return to the UK in 1998 after being accused of sexually abusing a teenager boy in America.

It culminates in his death several months later.

Fashanu killed himself aged 37 in a London garage and left a note saying he had been presumed guilty.

Justin Fashanu In Extra Time takes place at Rich Mix, 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, London, E1 6LA from Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th July at 8pm.

A special matinee performance and Q&A session will be held on the Saturday at 2pm/
