Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie has denounced homosexuality as a sin and said it is “seen like fashion” these days.

According to Goal.com, which translated remarks made in the footballer’s newly-released autobiography, he discussed his Christian beliefs and recommended that gay people should read the Bible.

He said that being gay was a rebellion for many people and cited Bible teachings that say homosexuality and “feminine” men are sinful.

The defender has spoken about his religion before, admitting that he made a decision two years ago to abstain from sex until his wedding night.

In an interview with Italian magazine Sportsweek, he said: “I have not had sex in two years and honestly, it has not been a burden. One who is unable to live without sex, in the end, becomes a slave.”
